Refuture Build Studio / Business Build Sprint

Test your next
business opportunity.

A 16 week engagement to investigate an opportunity, design a practical test and decide what to invest in next.

For operating businesses in Kenya, across sectors.

Submit an opportunity

An opportunity worth testing

Move from a promising idea
to a useful decision.

You know your business. You can see a possible next move. But investigating the opportunity, coordinating a team and running a useful test take capacity.

Refuture brings customer research, strategic foresight, futures thinking, systems thinking and business design into one focused engagement. A practitioner leads the work, with supervised fellows and specialist contributions matched to the brief.

The first Build Studio pilot combines one Refuture-owned concept with up to two paid business engagements.

What could you test?

The opportunity and your readiness matter. Sector does not define eligibility.

01

A new offer

Test a product, service or revenue stream with the people who might buy it.

02

A new market

Explore a customer group, sales channel, message or partnership model.

03

A better model

Investigate pricing, delivery costs or a practical change to how you operate.

Sixteen weeks.
Four stages of work.

The exact scope, deliverables and test are agreed with your business.

  1. 01Weeks 1–3

    Understand

Review customer and operating evidence. Explore future changes and agree the assumptions worth testing.

  2. 02Weeks 4–6

    Design

Develop the proposition, business model and prototype. Agree the test audience, budget and measures.

  3. 03Weeks 7–12

    Test

Pilot with customers, track behaviour and commercial results, and adjust the offer using what you learn.

  4. 04Weeks 13–16

    Decide

Review the evidence and economics. Agree whether to proceed, adapt or stop, and hand over the working materials.

Outputs you can use

Leave with evidence
and a next move.

  • An opportunity brief grounded in customer and operating evidence.
  • A defined proposition and assessment of the business model.
  • A prototype or practical change that makes the offer testable.
  • A record of the test, customer behaviour, costs and results.
  • Working materials and a recommendation to proceed, adapt or stop.

Stopping an unpromising offer can be a useful result. Revenue growth, investment and further studio partnerships are not guaranteed.

Who we are looking for

Ready to act.
Ready to fund the work.

You already deliver a product or service and can share customer or operating evidence. An owner or senior decision-maker can participate, provide information and arrange access to customers or partners.

Expect a regular working session and approximately 3–5 hours a week for collaboration and decisions, with additional operating time agreed for the test. Your business funds the service and the implementation resources; Refuture manages its delivery team.

We assess the value of the opportunity, customer access, decision authority, ability to pay and feasibility within sixteen weeks. We may accept fewer than two businesses where fit or capacity requires it.

Practical details

Scope first. Then commit.

How does the fee work?

We agree a fixed service fee after scoping. It covers the agreed research, practitioner leadership and project-team contribution. Materials, advertising, fulfilment, software and other test expenses are budgeted separately before spending. There is no fee to submit an opportunity or have an initial fit conversation. Equity is not required for this pilot.

What happens after I submit?

We review your opportunity and readiness. Suitable businesses are invited to a scoping conversation. Work begins after the proposal, fee, responsibilities, ownership of outputs and delivery arrangements have been agreed.

When will the pilot start?

Project start dates and working arrangements are confirmed through scoping. Tell us your preferred period and any constraints in the form.

Submit a business opportunity

Tell us about your opportunity.

A concise submission is enough. We will review the opportunity and contact suitable businesses for a scoping conversation.

Fields without “optional” are required. Please share a summary rather than confidential documents or private customer information.

01 / You and your business

The first pilot focuses on operating businesses in Kenya.

02 / The opportunity

For example: a new offer, customer group, price, sales channel or delivery model.

Summarise customer demand, delivery experience or tests you have already run.

03 / Readiness and resources

Describe the decision-maker, approximately 3–5 hours of weekly collaboration, and the operating support you can provide.

Include the currency and whether the budget is approved. Test expenses are agreed separately.
